Coalition for Parole Restoration » MISSION STATEMENT
MISSION STATEMENT
CPR, a 501(c)(3) organization, was founded in November 8, 1999 by family members of people in prison and people in prison that were frustrated with the parole practices of then Governor Pataki in keeping people in prison that had proven they had been rehabilitated.
CPR was created to inform, organize and bring to light all aspects of the prison industrial complex as it affects our communities, families and people in prison. Our mission is two-fold: to assist people in prison in obtaining parole release and to assist formerly incarcerated persons and their families with transition and re-entry. CPR is committed to providing support and assistance to people in prisons, their families and loved ones and formerly incarcerated people in dealing with prison issues and policies.
CPR’s aim is to advocate for humane and fair prison conditions and policies that will contribute to the total “rehabilitation” of people in prison and help them to make a relatively smooth transition back into society and to their communities.
